Pana Chamber Friday Farmers Market

The 2010 Fall Harvest in the Pana Area will mark the 1st Annual Pumpkin Contest to be held at the Pana Friday Farm Market on October 15, 2010. Judging will begin at 4:30 p.m. The event will be open to youngsters, 12 and under. The Biggest category will be “Biggest” by weight and must be raised by the exhibitor. The largest pumpkins must be registered and weighed at Tri-County Feed & Seed on Friday October 15, 2010 between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The balance of the categories, can be purchased or grown by the exhibitor, as follows Best Dressed; Best Painted; Most Original Carved; and Ugliest. All entries and categories will be on display the day of the event at the Chautauqua Pavilion with entries registered from 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Prizes for the largest will be $100 in Pana Chamber Gift Certificates. Prizes in the balance of Categories will be $25 in Pana Chamber Gift Certificates. Entries will be accepted from the Tri-County Area, Christian, Shelby, and Montgomery Counties.

Several of the growers will have pumpkins available at the Friday Farmers Market. The contest is being presented by the Pana Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Member B.P. Flower Farm, J.C. and Connie Large Proprietors, 1464 E 600 North Road, Owaneco, Illinois.
